About the program

Frei Dossier is an hour-long infotainment program, which airs monthly at a primetime slot in Hungary. This program takes a fresh look at global issues and addresses topics, which are important, and of special interest to the European viewers.

Frei Dossier is produced for Hungarian television, TV2 (one of the two commercial stations in Hungary). Our top programs have been viewed in over 25 countries, sometimes with a 40% market share and our report on Genetic Engineering was voted in Paris as one of the ten best non-fiction documentary features in the world.

Frei Dossier is hosted by Tamas Frei, a two time Hungarian Pulitzer Prize winner and one of Hungary's most famous and respected television reporters. Tamas Frei began his career as a travelling correspondent, visiting more than 100 countries. He later became Hungary's leading war correspondent covering the Somalian and the Bosnian war situations. His most dangerous moment happened in Columbia when he was arrested by the Medellín drug cartel and freed by the military just many days later. His claim to fame was his breaking and risky report on the Ebola virus in Zaire. Tamas Frei's interview credits with world leaders include computer mogul Bill Gates, former Russian President Gorbachov, Nobel Peace Prizewinner Nelson Mandela and many others.

Frei Dossier aims to show multi faceted documentary reports, which are both entertaining and informative. Tamas Frei has done interviews with celebrities such as Tom Hanks, David Copperfield, Sharon Stone, Antonio Banderas, Danny de Vito, Oliver Stone and many others. Recently he met the cast of the television hit show Desperate Housewives, among them Golden Globe winner Felicity Huffman. Our special features have included an 80 days trip around the Globe, with stopovers in the Amazon's remote areas, in Burma and in Iran. We made documentaries and investigative programs on the women of Saudi Arabia, the French Foreign Legion and Osama bin Laden's hiding places in Yemen. More exotic reports include an interview with the Maharaja of Jaipur, the headhunters of Borneo, an excursion to the North Pole and to Bhutan in the Himalayas. Tamas Frei followed the world famous, National Geographic photographer Steve McCurry on a long journey to Cambodia.
